Films

In 1969 the well-known filmmaker George Stoney was commissioned by the U.S. National Spiritual Assembly to make a documentary of the Bahá’í youth activities in America. The result was his film A New Wind, plus a separate untitled film about the Bahá’í Youth for One World conference in Wilmette that year. Here are those films, converted from rather worn copies of the original 16mm films belonging to my parents, Arthur and Joyce Dahl.

At the suggestion of Grace Holley, the mother of Marion Holley Hofman, Mme. Dreyfus-Barney invited Joyce to join Bahá’í meetings in Paris, 1931: (Laura Clifford Dreyfus-Barney to Joyce Lyon, 30 January 1931)

Joyce’s roommate at Stanford was Marion Holley, who later married David Hofman. Here is a letter from Marion to Joyce,

Joyce and Arthur Dahl contributed the funds for the publishing of the Guardian’s great book God Passes By, and received from him this letter of thanks dated 13 March 1944.
