In early January we were still in our house in the village of Krupnik, Bulgaria, with Emi’s mother, but we then travelled back to our home in Hluboká nad Vltavou in the Czech Republic.

In mid-June we returned to Bulgaria for the summer and celebrated Greg’s and Baba’s birthdays.

In mid-July we had a big family gathering in Blagoevgrad to celebrate Merle and Gregory’s marriage.

Later in July Emi, Greg and the girls spent some time on the Black Sea coast, and Gregory and Merle left to be with her parents in Hamburg. At end-August Mina left for Bard College, and in mid-September Greg and Emi returned to the Czech Republic.

In October, Gregory, Merle and Merle’s brother drove down from Hamburg to visit us in the Czech Republic, and we enjoyed the fall colors in Hluboká.

In November, Emi and Greg flew to the U.S. in time to spend Thanksgiving with Mina at Bard College. Then they visited Greg’s son Ian and his family in Chicago in December.
